Empire Ladder

Climb up, over, and down the obstacle.

Empire Ladder

Empire Ladder tests full-body coordination and controlled movement as you climb up and over angled metal bars. Keep your hips close to the structure to stay balanced, use your legs to step rather than pulling only with your arms, and move one point of contact at a time. At the top, stay calm and stable — swing one leg over first before shifting your weight to descend. To train for it, practice step-ups, pull-ups, and core stability work to stay strong and efficient on the climb.

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Use hands and feet.
  • Climb up the obstacle, over the top, and down the other side.
  • Use only the pipes, horizontal truss at the base and peak, and any horizontal pipes for support.

DISALLOWED

  • Failing to climb over and down the obstacle.
  • Using truss supports other than the horizontal ones (e.g., side or middle trusses) to aid in upward or downward momentum.

USE HANDS & FEET

ADDITIONAL NOTES

  • Horizontal trusses, such as the very top of the obstacle, may be used to complete it.
